David M. Showalter, 87 of Temperance, MI, passed away Friday, October 3, 2014, in Ebeid Residence Hospice, Sylvania, OH surrounded by his loving family. Born May 17, 1927 in Lorain, OH, he was the son of Charles and Clara (Glass) Showalter. David graduated from Sandusky High School in 1945, and then from the College of Wooster with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He later obtained a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Toledo. He married Sharon Meyer on July 12, 1953 in Sandusky, OH. David was Executive Director for Mechanical Contractors Association and Plumbing, Heating, Cooling Contractors of Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. He taught association management classes at University of Toledo. The Showalters relocated to Tampa, FL in 1980, where David became Executive Director of Tampa Builders Exchange, returning to Toledo in 2008. He was a member of MENSA and Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, Tampa, FL. He was currently attending Bedford Alliance Church in Temperance, MI.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Sharon. Children; Jeffery (Lisa) Showalter of Tulsa, OK and Paula ( Marty) St. John of Temperance, MI. Grandchildren; Michael (Crystal) Weiler and Lauren St. John. Great grandson, Caedmon Michael Weiler. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Harry, Charles and Francis Showalter and sister, Catherine Showalter, all of Sandusky, OH.
Visitation will be from 4-9 pm Monday, October 6, 2014, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at 11:00 am. Reverend Robert Hinz, officiating.
